As I began editing photos from Chartres Cathedral I decided that the exterior shots needed a hand made feel. Gum Prints are hand made photographs that use artist’s papers and watercolor pigments. The negative is produced on the computer or on sheet film and contact printed in sunlight. In this series the varied Pearlex pigments make the prints shimmer. The shimmering pigments and the brushwork necessary for gum printing express transitions from physical to spiritual visually.
